The museum’s origins date back to the late 1960s, when car enthusiast Oļģerts Orleāns began restoring his first car (a 1925 Renault) in his garage.
Oļģerts was one of the first members of the Latvian Classic Car Club. Over the years, the collection grew—cars were purchased, traded in, restored, and preserved. Oļģerts was succeeded by his son Normunds, who learned the skills of a restorer and gradually became involved in building the collection.
Over time, these vintage cars became a way of life for the whole family, and over the past few decades, the museum has taken on its current form. Today, the whole family is involved in the museum’s operations and development.
In December, the museum was officially established as the “Retro Car Museum” association.
The museum was accredited for the first time (it is currently accredited through 2033).
The museum is granted the status of a public benefit organization (currently, the organization’s activities focus on promoting culture, science, and education, as well as fostering the development of civil society).
In recent years, the museum has been offering not only guided tours but also various themed events (storytelling evenings, film screenings, nostalgia nights, workshops, lectures, and other cultural events related to vintage vehicles).
We have also resumed organizing classic car events under the name “RAM RALLIJS.”
