The F/N factory (Fabrique National) was the first manufacturer of block engines. F/N is known worldwide as a world-record-breaking brand. F/N is also known as the “Conqueror of the Sahara,” because a motorcycle of this brand was used to cross the Sahara Desert. As the magazine “Motors” wrote in its April 1931 issue: “There are no radical changes in the new models, which suggests that the factory’s experiences in the Sahara have convinced it to stick with a closed engine and a gearbox integrated into a single block, with power transmitted from the engine to the transmission via gears.”
